Who may use UPI with RuPay?

Certain bank users can use their RuPay credit card with UPI on the BHIM app. According to an NPCI circular, PNB, UBI, and Indian Bank customers would be the first to utilise RuPay Credit Cards on UPI with BHIM App.

 

Linking RuPay with UPI

Linking a RuPay credit card to UPI is identical to linking a savings or debit card.

 

UPI RuPay payments

UPI RuPay cards are only for merchant payments. A user may also utilise this new feature for power or OTT bill payments or other repeating merchant payments since RBI has allowed auto-pay for recurring transactions up to Rs 15,000 without further verification, said Lalit Chowdhary, Senior Vice President, Mindgate Solutions.

 

UPI can’t accept RuPay credit cards

  • Transferring money to any UPI handle. Using a RuPay credit card on UPI, you can’t send money to friends or family who have distinct UPI handles.
  • RuPay credit card-UPI handles can’t be used for other payments.
  • Transferring money to small merchants under P2PM category (NPCI categorises as ‘P2PM’ small retailers with a projected inward UPI transaction less than or equal to Rs 50,000 per month).
